Plan for New Programs of Department of International Relations

The department of International Relations is going to launch a new programmed of Diploma in International Relations.

Programmed Structure

Objectives

For graduates specializing foreign languages the Programmed intends to know international peace and security, global trade and economic development and conflict management.

Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this programmed, the students will be ready for further academic training in the field of International Relations. They will also be competitive for career opportunities in the United Nations, Embassies, International and Local NGOs etc.

Program Content

The programme shall consist of the following courses as indicated in the schedule below.

The course embraces sound theoretical and practical approaches, fulfills requirements for well-rounded diplomats with demonstrable personal and professional qualities of an inquiring mind, innovativenes, critical and logical thinking.

 

Who is eligible to apply?

To obtain admission to this programmed, a candidate must be a bachelor degree holder of foreign languages.

The programmed is offered during 7:00 am to 9:00 am and it is spread over two semesters.

 

Teaching and learning Strategies

Being an effective teaching and learning strategies, the courses are to be taught by faculty members using interactive learning strategies like group work, presentation, submitting assignment and discussion in order to meet student’s individual needs.

Upcoming programmes of Department of English:

The department of English is planning to launch Certificate in Interpretation Course under the HRD programmed. This course is aimed for the Myanmar citizens whose work is directly related with foreign companies and embassies.

During: 6 months 

Upcoming Programmes of Department of French:

The Department of French is going to launch certificate in Translation and Interpretation course under the CHRD Programme.

I. Programme structure

(a) Objectives

– To have job opportunities in media firms and other translation works

– To produce efficient guides so that Myanmar’s culture and traditions become well-known in the world.

(b) Learning Outcomes

After six months, when the learners have completed successfully this course, they will be almost ready for the translation fields although they have to continue to learn for the specific field.

(c) Programme Content

The programme shall consist of two modules: Translation and Interpretation

For first three months:

  1. Translation (from French to Myanmar and English)
  2. Interpretation (from French to Myanmar and English)

For second three months:

  1. Translation (from Myanmar and English to French)
  2. Interpretation (from Myanmar and English to French)

 

II. Who is eligible to enroll?

Those who have already passed the Second year diploma or Second year BA in French language or CHRD Intermediate 1 or those who have and who have completed the language skills level A2.

 

III. Teaching and Learning strategies

The course will be taught by the experienced teachers from the department of French, using interactive learning strategies such as individual and group works, shadowing, pair works, and submitting assignments, etc.
